Empty state copy for the notifications section on ClickUp
It’s usually a random quote – like the ones shared in the screenshot
It’s a fairly common practice to put quotations in empty states. However, keep in mind these things:
- Be contextual – Not all quotes work the same for all sections of the product.
- Be crisp – Don’t create a wall of text. It’s an empty state. Respect that.
- Avoid quotes as first-user states – The first user experience is all about exploration. That user will encounter empty states after empty states and slapping a quotation everywhere might be frustrating. So, give the user something to explore in the app.
Quotation in the notifications section when all message shave been read/cleared work well for ClickUp and serve an uplifting message to the user. ClickUp is a productivity and task management app after all!
